Bidadi: Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has strengthened its environmental, social and governance (ESG) agenda by expanding its education-focused community development initiatives in Karnataka. The automaker has launched a new school infrastructure project at Government Primary School, Ittamadu, aimed at improving educational facilities for students from five surrounding villages.
The project, inaugurated through a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, was attended by Dr. C. N. Manjunath, Member of Parliament, Bengaluru Rural, along with senior leadership from Toyota Kirloskar Motor.
As part of the initiative, TKM will construct four additional classrooms along with separate sanitation facilities for boys and girls, addressing critical infrastructure gaps in the government school. The project is expected to directly benefit students while improving educational access and learning conditions for more than 3,000 community members across five villages.
The investment reflects Toyota Kirloskar Motor's broader strategy of integrating social impact into its long-term sustainability roadmap, with education emerging as a key pillar of its CSR initiatives. Better classroom capacity and improved sanitation are expected to enhance student attendance, learning outcomes and overall well-being.
Speaking at the event, Dr. C. N. Manjunath said that strengthening educational infrastructure is essential for India's long-term development, adding that collaborations between industry and local communities can create lasting opportunities for future generations.
Commenting on the initiative, Vikram Gulati, Country Head & Executive Vice President – Corporate Affairs, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said quality infrastructure creates an environment where children can learn, grow and succeed. He noted that the project reflects the company's long-term commitment to supporting communities around its Bidadi manufacturing operations.
The latest initiative builds on Toyota Kirloskar Motor's ongoing investments in education, skill development and community welfare. According to the company, its broader educational infrastructure programme in Bengaluru South aims to benefit more than 15,000 students, reinforcing its focus on inclusive growth beyond its automotive business.
